Closing Details

You're almost there! At this point, you should be just a few days from settlement (also called closing) day. You will need to be in close contact with all the parties. You will need to communicate with:

The Seller

The seller - Schedule the walk-through for the day before settlement and confirm time and place of settlement.

The Lender

The lender - Be sure they have all the documentation they need and that you have met all their requirements, confirm that the settlement is scheduled with the closing department and get a list of any documents you will need to bring to settlement. Also, you will want to check on the amount of money you need to bring to settlement.

The Escrow Officer

The title and escrow attorney/agent - confirm the date and time of settlement, ask for a preliminary HUD-1  (settlement sheet) and other settlement documents 48 hours in advance of closing so you can review the numbers and terms. Confirm the amount of money that you will have to bring to settlement. Usually, this will have to be in the form of a certified check.
