A rarity on this 2-by-4 mile tropical island city: a home with a big quiet backyard (canal which takes you to the Atlantic reefs) and lots of parking on the street (and one gated parking space off-street.)
Your boat will be waiting and ready at the 50-ft dock when you get home from work. There is a workshop at the dock for tackle and small motor repairs.
The iguanas will salute you from the trees. You can keep the pool as a marine habitat (with snapper, grunts, crustaceans, anemones, octopus and feather dusters) or you can restore it to the fresh-water or swimming pool it was before Hurricane Wilma killed our koi. (The house, about two feet above high-tide levels, was unscathed by the storm.)
It is a home designed for partying but lately used for quiet observation of nature. Warblers, songbirds and hawks consider it their personal oasis.
Sturdy concrete block single-story construction and all new tile floors are easy maintenance, freeing you to enjoy the delights of town and ocean. The big supermarkets, and stores like Home Depot, Office Max, KMart and Sears are a bike ride away.
In the front yard a quiet freshwater meditation pool draws songbirds and little lizards. Currently, our pet Key West chickens greet you at the grate.
