is a city in Talladega and Shelby counties in the U.S. state of Alabama. At the 2000 census the population was 4,927. It claims a history dating back to 1540, as a village of the Coosa Indian Nation. The Alabama Army Ammunition Plant was located 4 miles north of Childersburg.
According to the U.S. Census Bureau, the city has a total area of 7.9 square miles (20.5 km²), of which, 7.7 square miles (20.0 km²) of it is land and 0.2 square miles (0.5 km²) of it (2.40%) is water.
