Exeter is located on State Highway 65, south of Highway 198. Exeter is within a 30 minute drive from the entrance to Sequoia National Park.
Professional artists depicting the history of the area have painted huge murals on exterior walls throughout the downtown area. There are currently 21 murals in this outdoor art gallery and more are planned.
According to the United States Census Bureau, the city has a total area of 2.2 square miles (5.8 km²), all of it land.
