Owners.com’s data shows that a significantly higher percentage of for sale by owner (fsbo) sellers are listing their properties on the local multiple listing service (MLS). Over just the past two years, 33% more for sale by owner (FSBO) sellers opted for a flat fee mls package. These findings are also reflected in the National Association of Realtors (NAR) report on 2012 home sellers1. NAR reported that flat fee MLS listings grew 30% in 2012. This segment is growing because FSBO sellers are realizing more and more that what they need to market their home just as effectively as homes listed by traditional agents is a listing on the local MLS.
Anecdotal evidence from customers indicates that homes are selling very quickly as well. Home sellers are getting multiple offers within days (often over the asking price) and many are selling their home within a few weeks. “I don’t know how it could be any easier” says Dale R. of Texas, who sold his home using the flat fee service at Owners.com.
