is a city in Washington County, Georgia, United States. The population was 6,144 at the 2000 census. The city is the county seat of Washington County. Sandersville is the birthplace of Philadelphia Eagles Pro Bowl linebacker Takeo Spikes, as well as Nation of Islam leader Elijah Muhammad.
According to the United States Census Bureau, the city has a total area of 10.2 square miles (23.9 km²), of which, 9.1 square miles (23.7 km²) of it is land and 0.1 square miles (0.2 km²) of it (0.87%) is water.
