Hawaiian Ocean View is located at (19.107649, -155.767186), directly on top of the southern rift zone of Mauna Loa volcano.
According to the United States Census Bureau, the CDP has a total area of 106.5 square miles (275.8 km²), of which 102.0 square miles (264.2 km²) is land and 4.5 square miles (11.6 km²) of it (4.20%) is water.
