is a village in Cook County, Illinois, United States. The population was 39,497 at the 2006 census. It is a suburb of Chicago.
Citizens' income varies from upper middle-class to low-income working class. The western section of the village includes affluent neighborhoods and wealthy unincorporated neighborhoods to the far west. The children in the unincorporated neighborhoods' attend Streamwood schools. The majority of the upper-tier subdivisions are located on the western side of Illinois Route 59, formerly Sutton Road.
Streamwood, along with Bartlett and Hanover Park, is one of the three communities that make up the so called "Tri Village" area. Streamwood was first incorporated as a village on February 9, 1957.
According to the United States Census Bureau, the village has a total area of 7.3 square miles (19.0 km²), of which, 7.3 square miles (18.9 km²) of it is land and 0.04 square miles (0.1 km²) of it (0.41%) is water.
