is a city in Rice County, Kansas, United States. The population was 2,642 at the 2000 census. Peace was the original name of the Quaker community now known as Sterling, but in 1876 the named was changed by two brothers that named the town for their father, Sterling Rosan.
According to the United States Census Bureau, the city has a total area of 1.5 square miles (3.8 km²), of which, 1.4 square miles (3.7 km²) of it is land and 0.04 square miles (0.1 km²) of it (2.76%) is water.
