Local city information for Bellevue, KY

Bellevue is a city in Campbell County, Kentucky, United States, along the Ohio River. The population was 6,480 at the 2000 census.

Bellevue is located at the extreme northern portion of Kentucky, directly across the Ohio River from the Mount Adams neighborhood of Cincinnati, Ohio. The city is bordered by Newport to the west, Dayton to the east, Fort Thomas to the south, and the Ohio River and Cincinnati to the north. According to the United States Census Bureau, the city has a total area of 0.9 square miles (2.4 km²), all of it land.

Bellevue is on a gentle slope that rises toward the Kentucky Highlands region at the south of city. Topographically, Bellevue is on higher ground than its neighboring cities. When the Ohio River would rise the homes in Dayton and Newport would flood whereas the homes in Bellevue (with exception of those closest to the river) would be safe from the flooding. For this reason Bellevue is not behind a levee whereas Dayton and Newport are.
