According to the United States Census Bureau, the city has a total area of 1.7 square miles (4.3 km²), of which, 1.3 square miles (3.4 km²) of it is land and 0.3 square miles (0.9 km²) of it (20.48%) is water. Dayton is located within Kentucky's Bluegrass region in the Upper South of the United States of America.
