is a city in Greenup County, Kentucky, United States. The population was 1,226 at the 2000 census. It is located along the Ohio River across from Portsmouth, Ohio, at the mouth of Tygarts Creek. South Shore is a part of the Huntington-Ashland, WV-KY-OH, Metropolitan Statistical Area (MSA).
The South Portsmouth-South Shore (Amtrak station) serves Amtrak's Cardinal Trains 50 & 51.
According to the United States Census Bureau, the city has a total area of 0.8 square miles (2.1 km²), of which, 0.6 square miles (1.7 km²) of it is land and 0.2 square miles (0.4 km²) of it (20.00%) is water.
