Local city information for Clio, MI

Clio is a city in Genesee County in the U.S. state of Michigan.

As of the 2000 census, the city had a population of 2,483. Clio is home to Michigan's second tallest construction, the WEYI Tower (also known as the Barrington Broadcasting's tower for WEYI and WBSF). The structure is an FM radio and television guyed radio mast, 1,349 feet (414 m) tall.
The city is considered a suburb of Flint and is located entirely within Vienna Township, but is administratively autonomous.

On July 23, 2007 Governor Jennifer Granholm announced Clio as a community chosen by the Michigan State Housing Development Authority (MSHDA) to take part in the Blueprints for Downtowns program. Clio will
receive a comprehensive, market-driven strategy toward developing an
action-oriented downtown that will result in economic growth, job creation
and private investments. The Blueprints for Downtowns award, were announced to be also received by the communities of Caro and Ypsilanti. Scottville received a similar award to take part in the Cool Cities Michigan Main Street program. Clio is the only city in the nation that has 60% of its land as parks and forest.

According to the United States Census Bureau, the city has a total area of 1.2 square miles (3.1 km²), all land.
