is a city in the U.S. state of Michigan and the county seat of Barry County. The population was 7,095 at the 2000 census. The city borders Hastings Charter Township on the north, east, and south, though it is politically independent. It has been named "One of the best 100 small towns in America".
According to the United States Census Bureau, the city has a total area of 5.3 square miles (13.6 km²), of which, 5.2 square miles (13.6 km²) of it is land and 0.04 square miles (0.1 km²) of it (0.38%) is water.
