is a city in Cooper County, Missouri, USA. The population was 8,202 at the 2000 census. It is the county seat of Cooper County. The city was the site of a skirmish early in the American Civil War on July 17, 1861. Union forces easily brushed aside a small and poorly equipped force of the Missouri State Guard in the so-called Battle of Boonville.
Boonville is located at (38.965017, -92.741757). According to the United States Census Bureau, the city has a total area of 7.3 square miles (19.0 km²), of which, 6.9 square miles (17.8 km²) of it is land and 0.5 square miles (1.2 km²) of it (6.26%) is water.
