is a city in Carter County, Missouri, United States. The population was 845 at the 2000 census, at which time it was a town. It is the county seat of Carter County. The city was organized in 1830 and was named for United States Secretary of State (and later President) Martin Van Buren.
Van Buren is located at (37.003594, -91.015230). According to the United States Census Bureau, the town has a total area of 2.0 square miles (5.2 km²), all of it land.
