is a city in Rankin County, Mississippi, United States. The population was 4,750 at the 2000 census. It is part of the Jackson Metropolitan Statistical Area.
According to the United States Census Bureau, the city has a total area of 16.6 square miles (42.9 km²), of which, 16.3 square miles (42.2 km²) of it is land and 0.3 square miles (0.7 km²) of it (1.69%) is water.
The city limits of Flowood include the entire Lakeland Dr (Hwy 25) corridor from the Pearl River at the Jackson city limits all the way to Hwy 471 north of Brandon. Flowood voters have approved(75%-25%)being classified a resort area which allows the City to serve liquor by the glass in restaraunts and hotels,(coming out from under a dry County).
