is a town in Buncombe County, North Carolina, United States. The population was 7,511 at the 2000 census. It is part of the Asheville Metropolitan Statistical Area. The town is named for the Black Mountain range of the Blue Ridge range in the Southern Appalachians.
According to the United States Census Bureau, the town has a total area of 6.5 square miles (16.7 km²), of which, 6.4 square miles (16.7 km²) of it is land and 0.04 square miles (0.1 km²) of it (0.31%) is water.
