Built as a two-story school in 1892, the second story was removed in 1935 and the building was then used as the catholic church's parish hall.  The hall was gutted to the exterior studs and was totally refurbished into a single family home in 2007.  The home has many amenities which include the original bird's eye maple hardwood flooring on over 50% of the main floor, 11' 3" ceilings on the main floor of the home, an open floor plan, a laundry room right off the kitchen, large energy efficient windows, heated and finished two-stall garage, lots of storage, 6-panel oak doors, and dual heat with off peak electric / forced air propane.

Ceiling fans with speed controls and lights adorn the ceilings of each main-floor bedroom, the great room, and the dining room.  Two hallways exit the main floor that lead to the four bedrooms and the main bathroom.  The west half of the great room can be seen from the kitchen island.

The focal point of the home is the centrally located great room located between the kitchen and the four main-floor bedrooms.  The great room has bird's eye maple flooring, 11' 3" ceilings, 2 ceiling fans, 2 large area rugs, and four windows.

The exterior landscaping includes two cement patios (one on the east side and one on the west side), washed rock around the perimeter of the house, a concrete driveway, a paved parking area on the north side, and a 9' circular landscape block planter.

The key to its heating and cooling efficiency is the insulation.  The 8" thick exterior walls have 1 1/2" of spray foam insulation coupled with R-19 batt fiberglass insulation.  The ceiling over the main floor has an R value of approximately R-60 with blow in fiberglass insulation.  The ceiling in the garage has an approximate R value of R-35.  The garage walls are 2 X 6 with R-19 fiberglass batt insulation.  All exterior doors are steel insulated doors.

Located in the small, rural and peaceful town of Fairmount, ND.  Approximately 15 minutes from the Wahpeton/Breckenridge area, which has abundant shopping possibilities, including a super Wal-mart. The Fairmount school system is a K-12 accredited school with dual credit college classes offered. We are proud of the technolgy that has been brought to the school in the last number of years. Excellent possibilities for handicap situations or daycare for children or elderly care.
