is an unincorporated area located within Washington Township, in Morris County, New Jersey. Known as German Valley since its foundation during the colonial era, the community was renamed in response to anti-German sentiment during World War I. As of the United States 2000 Census, the CDP population was 1,818.
According to the United States Census Bureau, the CDP has a total area of 12.2 km
(4.7 mi²), all land. There are several bodies of water, including several man-made lakes used for agriculture and a portion of the Raritan River that are not included in the calculation of water area. Also, much of Long Valley is part of Schooley's Mountain, a tall ridge that contrasts greatly with the rest of the region.
