is a village in southwest part of the town of Islip, which is in western Suffolk County, New York, United States. The population was 3,248 at the 2000 census. Brightwaters is a suburb of New York City.
Brightwaters is located at (40.721442, -73.265869). It contains Wohseepee Park and the Brightwaters Canal. Also there are four lakes next to Montauk Highway, and the businesses are located at the intersection of Windsor Avenue and Orinoco.
According to the United States Census Bureau, the village has a total area of 1.0 square miles (2.7 km²), of which, 1.0 square miles (2.5 km²) of it is land and 0.04 square miles (0.1 km²) of it (3.88%) is water.
