is a village in Suffolk County, New York, on the southern shore of Long Island in the Town of Babylon. The population was 27,819 at the 2000 census; the 2006 estimate found approximately 28,000 residents. It is the 4th most populous village in New York State.
According to the United States Census Bureau, the village has a total area of 10.0km² (3.8 sq mi). 9.7 km² (3.8 sq mi) of it is land and 0.2 km² (0.1 sq mi) of it (1.57%) is water.
