Local city information for Coshocton, OH

Coshocton () is a city in and the county seat of Coshocton County, Ohio, United States. The population of the city was 11,682 at the 2000 census. The Walhonding River and the Tuscarawas River meet in Coshocton to form the Muskingum River.

Coshocton contains the restored canal theme town of Roscoe Village, a tourist attraction showcasing the area's unique canal history, situated next to the former Ohio and Erie Canal.

In the 1770s Coshocton was the principal Lenape (Delaware) village in the Ohio Country. It was founded by Chief Newcomer and attracted much of the population of the former principal village of Newcomerstown. The village was located across the Tuscarawas River from the former site of the Wyandot village of Conchake. Coshocton was destroyed by Colonel Daniel Brodheadin April 1781.
