Eastlake is the site where Akron's FirstEnergy's Eastlake Generating Station shutdown at 1:31pm EDT on August 14, 2003, eventually leading to the infamous 2003 North America blackout a few hours later.
According to the United States Census Bureau, the city has a total area of 6.5 square miles (16.9 km²), of which, 6.4 square miles (16.6 km²) of it is land and 0.1 square miles (0.3 km²) of it (1.84%) is water.
