is a city in and the county seat of Sandusky County, Ohio, United States. The population was 17,375 at the 2000 census. Former president Rutherford B. Hayes lived in the city for a period of time and dedicated a library to the town. The National Arbor Day Foundation designated Fremont as a Tree City USA.
According to the United States Census Bureau, the city has a total area of 7.7 square miles (20.0 km²), of which, 7.5 square miles (19.5 km²) of it is land and 0.2 square miles (0.6 km²) of it (2.85%) is water.
