Jeffersonville was the birthplace of Grayson L. Kirk who was president of Columbia University, advisor to the State Department, and instrumental in the formation of the United Nations.
According to the United States Census Bureau, the village has a total area of 1.7 square miles (4.5 km²), of which, 1.7 square miles (4.4 km²) of it is land and 0.04 square miles (0.1 km²) of it (1.72%) is water.
