is a city located in east central Butler and west central Warren counties in the southwestern part of the U.S. state of Ohio. As of the 2000 census, the city population was 7,133, up from 4,008 in 1990.
Monroe is named for President James Monroe, who was elected U.S. President the year it was founded.
According to the United States Census Bureau, the city has a total area of 15.5 square miles (40.2 km²), of which, 15.5 square miles (40.2 km²) of it is land and 0.04 square miles (0.1 km²) of it (0.13%) is water.
