Newalla, is a sprawling outer suburban community located at the outer northeast edge of the Oklahoma City/Norman area. The residents all have more than one acre homesites and the area is partially in Oklahoma County, Oklahoma, and partially in Cleveland County. Newalla is an adaption of the Osage name for the Canadian River. The area has a designated zip code and the post office was opened June 22, 1904. The zip code has 8,850 residents, according to Sperling's Best Places.

The US Census Bureau defines Newalla as part of the Oklahoma City Metropolitan Area, and it was annexed into Oklahoma City in 1983. Newalla is located just west of Highway 270, north of Interstate 40.
