is a census-designated place (CDP) located along the Susquehanna River in East Pennsboro Township, Cumberland County, Pennsylvania, United States. The population was 5,627 at the 2000 census. Norfolk Southern operates Enola Yard, a large rail yard and locomotive shop in Enola. It is a suburb of Harrisburg and is part of the Harrisburg–Carlisle Metropolitan Statistical Area.
Enola sprang into existence with the building of the rail lines that run through the town. The name "Enola" comes from the name of a farm owner's four-year-old daughter. The man, Wesley Miller, sold land to the Pennsylvania Railroad and was given the honor of naming the train station. Eventually, the local post office and the surrounding town also adopted the name.
There is one high school in Enola; East Pennsboro High School. Originally named Enola High School, it is located on farm owned from the late 1800s - 1940's by the Gutshall family. It is located on Shady Lane, and sits parallel to Gutshall road. The original one room school house is located on Wertzville road.
According to the United States Census Bureau, the CDP has a total area of 1.9 square miles (4.8 km²), all of it land.
