It was formerly named Bridgeport. Lemoyne lies across the Susquehanna River from Harrisburg, Pennsylvania's capital. It is also part of the Harrisburg–Carlisle Metropolitan Statistical Area.

Lemoyne is served by Interstate 83 and U.S. Route 11/15.
