is a township along the Ohio River in Allegheny County, Pennsylvania, United States. The origin of its name is unknown for certain, although it has been suggested that it derives from a crescent-shaped bend in the river. Moon is a part of the Pittsburgh Metro Area as it is located northwest of Pittsburgh. The population was 22,290 at the 2000 census.
According to the United States Census Bureau, the township has a total area of 24.1 square miles (62.4 km²), of which, 23.7 square miles (61.5 km²) of it is land and 0.3 square miles (0.9 km²) of it (1.41%) is water.
