is a town in Washington County, Rhode Island, United States. The population was 16,361 at the 2000 census, although there is a greater population in the summer. The nickname for the town is 'Gansett.'

According to the United States Census Bureau, the town has a total area of 37.8 square miles (97.8 km²), of which, 14.1 square miles (36.6 km²) of it is land and 23.6 square miles (61.2 km²) of it (62.56%) is water.
