is one of South Carolina's Sea Islands and is a census-designated place in Charleston County. The population was 2,301 at the 2000 census. Edisto Island is not to be confused with the town of Edisto Beach, Colleton County, SC.
According to the United States Census Bureau, the CDP has a total area of 67.8 square miles (14.3 km²), of which, 67.6 square miles (175.1 km²) of it is land and 0.2 square miles (0.4 km²) of it (0.91%) is water.
Edisto Island is located about one hour south of Charleston, South Carolina. Ediston Island is home to Edisto Beach, and Wyndham Timeshare resorts.
