is a census-designated place (CDP) in Georgetown County, South Carolina, United States. The population was 5,519 at the 2000 census. It was once primarily a fishing village, but has built up in modern time, along with the rest of the Grand Strand into a popular tourist and retirement location. It is most known for
a cluster of award-winning seafood and barbecue restaurants on its Main Street. There is also a local island in the inlet named Goat Island.
According to the United States Census Bureau, the CDP has a total area of 7.5 square miles (19.5 km²), of which, 7.3 square miles (19.0 km²) of it is land and 0.2 square miles (0.4 km²) of it (2.26%) is water.
