is a city in Haywood County, Tennessee, United States. It is the county seat of Haywood County. The city is named after Jacob Jennings Brown, an officer who served during The War of 1812. On April 2, 2006 the town was hit by an F2 tornado doing heavy damage to the Hickory Mills Subdivision.
According to the United States Census Bureau, the city has a total area of 9.1 square miles (23.6 km²), all of it land.
Brownsville is situated on the southeastern edge of the New Madrid Seismic Zone, an area with a high earthquake risk.
