is a city in and the county seat of Kane County, Utah, United States. The population was 3,564 at the 2000 census. Locals refer to Kanab as "Little Hollywood" due to its history as a filming location for western movies and television series such as Daniel Boone starring Fess Parker who also played Davy Crockett, Gunsmoke, Planet of the Apes, The Outlaw Josey Wales, The Lone Ranger, and Stagecoach among others. Kanab is situated in the "Grand Circle," centrally located among Bryce Canyon National Park, the Grand Canyon (North Rim), and Zion National Park. There are many other smaller and lesser know attractions like the Grand Staircase National Monument, Coral Pink Sand dunes state park, and the largest animal sanctuary in the United States, Best Friends animal sanctuary. Kanab is also the hub for prime mule deer hunting, as many a big buck has been harvested around Kanab, in Utah and Arizona.
