is a town in Cumberland and Prince Edward counties in the U.S. state of Virginia. The population was 6,845 at the 2000 census. It is the county seat of Prince Edward County. The Appomattox River runs through the town.
Farmville is the home of Longwood University and is the town nearest to Hampden-Sydney College. It is also at the intersection of US 15 VA 45 and US 460.
According to the United States Census Bureau, the town has a total area of 7.0 square miles (18.2 km²), of which, 7.0 square miles (18.1 km²) of it is land and 0.1 square miles (0.2 km²) of it (0.99%) is water.
Farmville is located between Richmond and Lynchburg on U.S. Route 460.
