is a town in Westmoreland County, Virginia, United States. The population was 315 at the 2000 census. It is the county seat of Westmoreland County. Located in the historic Northern Neck of Virginia, Montross is nearby the George Washington Birthplace National Monument and Stratford Hall Plantation (birthplace of Robert E. Lee, Richard Henry Lee, and Francis Lightfoot Lee). Washington and Lee High School is located in the town. Emmy Award-winning video engineer Walter Balderson is from Montross.
According to the United States Census Bureau, the town has a total area of 1.0 square miles (2.6 km²), all of it land.
