is more common locally. The population was 5,158 at the 2000 census. Green Acres has been part of the city of Spokane Valley since incorporation in 2003. Green Acres also has two schools in the Central Valley School District named after it; Greenacres Middle School and Greenacres Elementary School.
According to the United States Census Bureau, the CDP had a total area of 3.4 square miles (8.7 km²), of which, 3.3 square miles (8.6 km²) was land and 0.1 square miles (0.2 km²) of it (1.78%) was water.
