Should you go FSBO?
By Guy Social
Michael Mayer, who used Owners.com to list his home on the local MLS tells his FSBO story and how he saved over $11,000 in commission costs. He gives some helpful tips to ensure the sale went quickly and smoothly. He received his first offer within 3 days!
One key tip he gives is to know the market. This means making sure you research other similar homes in the area so that you can set a realistic price. He then recommends that you stage the home appropriately and advertise. The best way to advertise is to make sure the home is on the local multiple listing service (MLS). Typically there is a one-time flat fee to list your home.
He also urges sellers to be open to paying a buyer’s agent a commission – this gives that agent an incentive to show your home. If you agree to this, you still save half the commission costs.
